OVERVIEW
The Advance RF and Microwave & Research Group is composed of researchers whose interests are based around the theme of RF and microwave devices in general. The research includes the design of various type of RF and antenna such as wearable antenna, metamaterial antenna, UHF antenna, reconfigurable antenna, array antenna, electromagnetic propagation, RFID , passive and active devices such as amplifier, mixer, oscillator, RF Transceiver and the specific absorption rate (SAR). The scope of this potentially wide area of research is determined by our choice of different materials to be investigated, which is governed by the extensive knowledge in the group for the requirements of modern technology.

ARFMRG WON SILVER MEDAL IN PECIPTA 2017
AFRMRG participated in International Conference and Exposition on Inventions by Institutions of Higher Learning (PECIPTA 2017) held in Stadium Tertutup Gong Badak Kuala Terengganu on 7-9 October 2017. Our product which had been contested was "X-band Polarization Insensitive and Wide Angle Metamaterial Absorbers" invented by Dr. Osman bin Ayop. This product managed to win Silver Medal in the event. The product was presented by Prof. Dr Mohamad Kamal A. Rahim and assisted by Dr Osman bin Ayop during the competition.
ARFMRG WIN 2 GOLD AND JURY AWARD in INATEX 2015
Advanced RF and microwave research group (ARFMRG) has won 3 awards in INATEX 2015 through 2 research products. The first product namely "metamaterial absorber" has won a gold medal. It also won special Jury Award due to the product outstanding capability. Another one product namely "Dual-Polarize Antenna" also won a gold medal due to its unique dual-polarization capability. This is so far our best achievement in UTM INATEX so far.
ARFMRG IS ON TRACK WITH 5G TECHNOLOGIES
With the rapid growing of telecommunication technology, our members of Advanced RF & Microwave Research Group, ARFMRG took an initiative to be on track with the technology development. Therefore, we were attending a course focusing on Milimeter wave antenna design and technologies for 5G. The two days course was take place in UTM International Campus in Kuala Lumpur at 26-27 December 2016. The speaker was Prof. Dr Mohamed Himdi from University of Rennes, France.
UTM WIN BEST OF THE BEST IN PECIPTA 2013
A research group from faculty of electrical engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Advanced RF and Microwave Research Group, ARFMRG) have won 4 prizes through 3 products in International Conference and Exposition on Invention of Institutions of Higher Learning 2013 (PECIPTA 2013). Among the products, a flexible wearable antenna developed by textile material and metallic denim has been awarded as "BEST OF THE BEST" for the category of Art, Design, and Creativity.
PROF. DR. MOHAMMAD KAMAL BIN A. RAHIM HAS BEEN AWARDED AS TOP SCIENTIST MALAYSIA 2018
A big congratulation to the Past Head of Group of ARFMRG , Prof. Dr. Mohammad Kamal bin A. Rahim for his excellent achievement. Together with few researchers around Malaysia, He has been awarded as one of the Top Research Scientist Malaysia for 2018. Hope his achievement and excellent will be a big inspiration to other staffs and also students especially for ARFMRG members.
